Meet Brisbane Nanny Indie.
Trusted Nannies for Brisbane & Gold Coast Families
At Mini Connections Nanny Agency, we’re proud to work with exceptional nannies who bring professionalism, creativity, and genuine care into the homes of the families we serve. One of those standout nannies is Indie, a passionate and highly engaged nanny whose days are filled with connection, learning, and joy.
Indie currently supports a wonderful family through Mini Connections, and her thoughtful approach to childcare is a perfect example of why busy, professional families across Brisbane and the Gold Coast trust us to find the right fit.
How did you get into nannying?
I decided I wanted a career change while completing my master’s degree. I wanted to do something that made me feel appreciated and fulfilled every day — and nannying felt like the perfect fit.”
This desire for purpose and meaningful work is something we see often in the professional nannies we place with families who value long‑term, relationship‑based care
How did you connect with Mini Connections Nanny Agency?
I saw a nanny role advertised online and applied. Michelle and Haylee contacted me very quickly and made the effort to really get to know me. From my first meeting with Michelle, I felt incredibly welcomed.
They connected me with the family I currently work with and even celebrated with me when I got the role. I couldn’t be happier with the agency or the supportive, professional team behind it.
What does a day in the nanny life look like?
I start my mornings preparing breakfast and helping with school drop‑off. The rest of the day is spent with the younger children, planning fun and engaging activities and creating a positive, relaxed environment.
In the afternoons, we might head to the park, play outdoor games, or enjoy board games on rainy days. I finish by preparing dinner and helping the children settle for bed, so parents can come home to a calm, organised household.
This structure and consistency are exactly why many HNF families choose in‑home nanny care over daycare.
What are some of your favourite parts of being a nanny?
I love bringing new activities to work and seeing how the children respond. We’ve done clay modelling, fresh pasta making, and lots of creative projects.
These activities help me connect with the kids, discover what they love, and plan future experiences that support their interests and development.
Do you have any nanny hacks that make the day run more smoothly?
Clear communication is everything. Before leaving the park, I give the kids a five‑minute warning and let them choose one last favourite activity. It helps them feel involved and leaves everyone happy.
I also focus on telling children what I do want them to do rather than what I don’t — for example, ‘hands down please’ instead of ‘don’t touch that’. I find children really appreciate being communicated with respectfully.”
Indie’s background as a behaviour therapist adds depth and skill to her approach, something many Mini Connections families value highly.
What’s something that makes you feel really appreciated as a Nanny?
I’ve worked with some beautiful families, but my current family truly makes me feel like part of theirs. They ask for my input as a mental health professional and work collaboratively with me to support their children.
Feeling trusted and respected makes such a difference.
What’s your favourite activity to do with kids?
I absolutely love going to the park and engaging with the kids whilst they play. I’ll roar like a dinosaur and race around the park! I love seeing how much fun the kids have and think it’s a great bonding experience for everyone!
What advice would you give someone who is looking to become a nanny?
Don’t be afraid to tap into your inner child, you’ll find that the kids love how silly you can be and will always think you’re fun! This makes it so much easier when you have to ask them to clean their room or pack away an activity, because you’ve built so much ‘credit’ that they will forgive you for making them clean up.
What do you love doing in your spare time?
I love just about everything! I love being outdoors and hiking, love working on cars, and love being creative! I find I can bring these passions to work and help the kids learn new things!
Do you have a life motto or mantra that you live by?
Life’s too short to be unhappy!
